What are the core materials of the sandwich panel?

May 13 2022

The core material of the sandwich panel can be divided into two categories according to its chemical composition, namely organic chemical foam materials, such as polyurethane foam, polystyrene foam, phenolic foam, triamine foam, etc.; the other is inorganic fiber materials, such as rock wool , mineral wool, glass wool, etc.
Polyurethane, polystyrene and other organic materials have low heat-resistance temperature, are easy to burn in fire, and are easy to produce toxic gas, which has become one of the main factors of fire accidents.
For sandwich panels commonly used in curtain walls and roofs of public buildings and industrial buildings, there are two core materials, one is rock wool and the other is glass wool. The combustion grade of rock wool and glass wool is Class A, which are non-combustible substances and can meet the fire protection requirements of the fire department. It is also one of the most used products on the market today.
If there are higher requirements for fire protection, heat insulation and safety, when selecting curtain wall materials, composite panels with rock wool or glass wool as the core material should be selected as much as possible.
